Distribute to partners

1 min read

Hands the record to distribution: rules decide which partner gets it, and delivery then proceeds on its own. The step has no configuration — which distribution applies follows from the record type.

Step by step

  1. Beforehand, set up the participations and rules under Distribution, page Routing, tab Rules.
  2. Open the trial run there and let it work through a real record — it shows per rule whether it applies and why not.
  3. In the flow, choose the plus and take Distribute to partners. There is nothing to configure.
  4. Save and let a record run through.
  5. Check the outcome under Distribution, tab Deliveries — it shows what happened on each attempt.

Why does the step have no settings?

Because the profile follows from the record type. A choice here would be a second truth beside that mapping, and sooner or later the two would drift apart.

What happens when no buyer fits?

The run ends as skipped. A follow-up email about a handover that never happened would be worse than none. To carry on regardless, use the trigger No buyer found.

Does the next step know whether delivery succeeded?

It knows the partner but not yet the delivery status: selection is immediate, delivery takes time. For the final state there is the trigger Distribution completed.

What if the record was already distributed?

The step does nothing and the run ends as skipped. Distributing twice would wrong the partner who already paid.

Can I distribute the same record by hand?

Yes, there is a button on the record. It takes the same route as this step, only with a person as its author.
