Started by hand

1 min read

Does not start on its own but on a click at the record. Meant for anything somebody should decide: a reminder, a handover, a document that must not be produced for every case.

Step by step

  1. On the Records page open Automations through the menu at the top right, choose Create automation and take Started by hand as the trigger.
  2. Save the trigger and set the steps.
  3. Switch the automation on — switched off it does not appear on the record.
  4. Open the record: at the bottom sits a button carrying the automation's name — with several it reads Run automation and opens a menu.

Where is the button?

At the bottom of the opened record. With a single one the button carries its name, with several it reads Run automation. It offers what is switched on and carries this trigger.

Why does my automation not appear there?

Usually because it is switched off or has no step yet. Without a step it cannot be switched on.

Can I start it several times on the same record?

Yes, as long as Once per record is off. For steps that must not happen twice, the switch belongs on.

Who may start it?

Anybody who may edit the record. The right to build automations is a different one — starting is open to case workers too.

Does the history show who started it?

Yes. The run carries the person as its author, and so do the steps within it.
