Who changed something about the setup

The account's log: fields, roles, access, modules, exports. It answers who changed something about the setup and when, and it filters by author and event.
Not the history of a record
The history belongs to a single case and answers what happened to it. This log belongs to the account. Anyone asking why a record sits in a different stage looks in the history; anyone asking who deleted a field looks here.
What it holds
Created, changed, deleted, restored, plus the particular events: entity changed, field created, document template changed, export run. Every entry names its author, and that need not be a person: an automation, the API or a nightly run stand there just as well.
An export is always in it
With time, scope and row count. An export is the moment data leaves the system; without logging it you cannot say afterwards what went out. See Export.
Searching and narrowing
Full text over the description, plus filters by kind of author and by event. When hunting for one particular change, narrowing by event is usually faster than reading from the top.
Step by step
- Open Settings, Change log.
- Narrow by kind of author or by event.
- Search the full text for the thing itself, such as the name of a field.
Can I delete an entry?
No. A log you can remove entries from no longer answers any question reliably.
How long does the log stay?
As long as you set under Retention. It is an area of its own with a period of its own.
Who may read it?
Whoever holds the right to. It is a right of its own, because the log says who did what, and that is not everyone's business. See Roles and rights.
Why is there no name on an entry?
Then the author was not a person: an automation, the API or a schedule. The kind stands there instead of a name.
